Let Our Cabin Be Your Home Away from Home

Listen to the creek sounds here recorded 9 September 2008. A log cabin rental vacation is not like staying in a hotel! There's no maid service. Sheets and towels are ready for you when you check in - but you will have to make your own bed. That’s the way it’s done around here. On the other hand, how precious is the peaceful return to nature - the soothing sounds of the creek, the freshness of the air and of the forest. You can sleep with natural sounds coming in your open window - except maybe in winter! And this is the beauty of a mountain cabin vacation - you have the full experience of the woods and mountains, with the comfort of cooking in a modern, well- equipped kitchen, your own bathroom, and a real bed at night. Not to mention the coziness of a fire, and the comfort of both heating and air conditioning as needed. The cabin is about 1,000 square feet, and accommodates up to four people. There is one large bathroom with a full-sized washer and dryer, a dining area, and a game area. We keep our cabin no smoking and fragrance-free: so we supply the laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies.
The cabin has two bedrooms: a king and queen. We provide linens: sheets and towels. There is also a washer-dryer and laundry detergent.
The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a small sitting area.
Beautiful exposed wood walls together with a stone fireplace make this a comfortable and relaxing getaway. If you've never built a fire, click here - these instructions are also at the cabin.
The dining table comfortably seats six.
The game area has a second table that seats four —perfect for game boards or a jigsaw puzzle.
Full kitchen, with microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, glasses, coffeemaker (Mr. Coffee type), cookware, and appliances.
The bathroom has a tub and shower as well as a full-sized washer and dryer.
A wide porch spans the back, with the creek flowing just a step away. The view looks out into the national forest and up to the Black Mountain Range.
Step off the back porch and into the Appalachians.
This picture shows the view from the creekside porch toward the creek taken on September 3, 2008.

Protect the Nation's Forests – Don’t Bring Firewood

This camping and hunting season, purchase your firewood from a vendor close to your destination: such as at Mr. Effler’s store in Busick just four miles away. Unfortunately, our native trees and forests are being threatened by invasive insects and diseases that live in dead and dying wood. In many cases, these pests are being accidentally spread to new locations by people moving firewood from one location to another.
